Practical Type 1 Diabetes Training in Vientiane, Laos

We are pleased to share the success of a recent training organised for healthcare professionals (HCP) working with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) in Laos. This event was held in mid-December with our partner hospital, ໂຮງໝໍມະໂຫສົດ Mahosot Hospital in Vientiane. This initiative brought together 50 healthcare professionals from up to 16 regions all over Laos, including Vientiane, Luangprabang, Savannakhet, Attapeu, and more, to strengthen T1D care nationwide.

The training was led by our volunteer medical advisor, Professor Taninee from the School of Global Health, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, whose expertise added immense value to the sessions. Among the topics covered, the Insulin Adjustment session was particularly noteworthy, while the Carb Counting workshop emerged as the most favoured, equipping participants with practical strategies for improving patient care.

This event would not be possible without the support of Sanofi Global Health Unit (GHU), and this reflects their commitment to bridging the healthcare gap for vulnerable communities. It is truly a pleasure working with likeminded partners to #takeontype1 in South-East Asia.
