Advisory Meeting on Online Health Service Standards for Adolescents and Youth

The School of Global Health, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, in collaboration with the Bureau of Reproductive Health, Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, and with support from UNICEF Thailand, convened an Advisory Committee Meeting on 21 January 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The meeting was organized in response to growing and increasingly complex health challenges faced by adolescents and youth worldwide, including unsafe pregnancy, mental health concerns, substance use, and sexually transmitted infections. As young people rely heavily on online channels for health information, ensuring access to accurate, reliable, and standardized online health services has become critically important.

The initiative aims to develop a national standard for online health service delivery for adolescents and youth provided by civil society organizations (CSOs). These organizations play an essential role in reaching young people through flexible, youth-centered approaches, yet often face limitations due to short-term funding and inconsistent support. Establishing clear standards is expected to strengthen service quality, sustainability, and equitable access.

Approximately 20 participants joined the meeting through both in-person and online platforms, including expert advisors from government agencies, academic institutions, child and adolescent mental health organizations, HIV research institutes, and civil society networks.

The discussion focused on gathering technical and policy recommendations to ensure that the standards are scientifically sound, practically applicable, and can support the inclusion of online youth health services within Thailand’s Universal Health Coverage benefit package in the future.

This meeting reflects School of Global Health’s commitment to strengthening adolescent health systems, supporting civil society partnerships, and advancing sustainable and trustworthy digital health services for young people across Thailand.
