Position Overview
The School of Global Health (SGH) is seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and motivated Epidemiologist/Biostatistician to join our dynamic academic and research ecosystem. The ideal candidate will possess a robust dual background in advanced epidemiological methodologies and complex biostatistical analyses. He/she is expected to have a commitment to teaching, research, mentoring, and services with a pivotal role in designing, executing, and translating high-impact health science research aimed at addressing critical global and regional health challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Faculty Duty: Develop and revise epidemiology and/or biostatistics training curricula for students and post-doctoral fellows in global health. Give lectures, participate in training courses, and mentor undergraduates, graduates, and post-doctoral fellows in global health.
- Research Design and Methodology: Lead and collaborate on the methodological design of clinical trials, observational cohort studies, implementation science projects, and population health research.
- Advanced Statistical Analysis: Develop statistical analysis plans (SAPs), manage large-scale health datasets, and conduct advanced modeling (e.g., survival analysis, longitudinal data analysis, multivariable regression) using standard software (e.g., R, Stata, SAS, or Python).
- Data Management and Quality Assurance: Oversee data governance, ensuring the highest standards of data integrity, quality control, and compliance with ethical and regulatory requirements.
- Scientific Communication and Translation: Interpret complex statistical findings into actionable public health insights. Lead and contribute to the preparation of high-quality peer-reviewed manuscripts for top-tier international journals.
- Grant and Proposal Development: Provide robust statistical and epidemiological expertise in the development of international and national research grant applications.
- Collaboration: Collaborate proactively with SGH faculty members, staff and key partners on research, training, publication, and other relevant activities.
Required Qualifications
- Education: An MD-PhD in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, or a closely related health science field highly desirable. Applicants with an MD, a PhD, or equivalent qualifications, together with a strong record of professional accomplishments and relevant experience, will also be given full consideration.
- Experience: 5 years of post-qualification experience in health science research, health policy research, or implementation science, in academic research environments.
- Technical Skills: Proven proficiency in advanced statistical software and a strong understanding of research methodologies related to infectious diseases, global health security, non-communicable diseases, or translational medicine.
- Language: Excellent professional command of written and spoken English, with a track record of scientific writing and publication.
Preferred Attributes (A Plus)
- Impact Track Record: A documented history of contributing to or informing impactful health-related research, policy changes, or significant public health interventions.
- Collaborative Mindset: Experience working within multi-country networks, consortia, or alongside international global health organizations.
