Center of Excellence of Parkinson’s Disease and Related Disorders

Chulalongkorn Center of Excellence for Parkinson’s Disease and Related Disorders was established in 2006. It was the first center in Thailand dedicated to the care of Parkinson’s disease (PD) and related movement disorders patients. Since then, the Center has been the forefront of PD and movement disorders education, research, and care in Thailand. The Center hosts a variety of educational programs for patients and caregivers. In the field of research, the Center has been regarded as an exemplary research and innovation center. Medical and non-medical professionals from around the country visit the center to learn from its experiences.

Focus Areas

Our research is prioritized on innovations with significant impact on the patient’s care. ChulaPD tremor device is capable of analyzing tremor waveforms with over 90% accuracy. ChulaPD keyboard may look simple, but it is equipped with a machine learning algorithm, demonstrating the ability to distinguish early PD from an ageing population. The laser-guided walking stick is one of our research flagships with the latest development generating laser beams on-demand. Night-time symptoms in PD can be monitored by specialists using the NIGHT-Recorder without the need for hospitalization. Those with an intractable hand tremor may find our Tremor’s gloves, which suppress tremors by peripheral stimulation, to be beneficial.
